Felicia Gomez, PhD

Former Professional Athlete and Founder of Pinnacle Training Systems

Felicia earned a Ph.D. in Exercise Metabolism and Nutrition from the University of Guelph, Canada in 2000. She has over 10 years of teaching experience at the University and College level and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at CSU, Fresno. She has published several articles in scientific journals related to training, nutrition and sports performance. Felicia also comes from a long history of elite level training and competition. She has over 20 years of running experience, 5 years of professional duathlon competition and 5 years as a professional cyclist.

 

Amanda Stetler, M.A.

Programming Coordinator

Amanda obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology/Exercise Science from Fresno State University, and recently earned her Master’s degree in the same field. She has experience as a student athletic trainer for various sports teams at a community college level, and has worked as a physical therapy assistant for sports and occupational therapy clinics. She has 5 years experience as a weight loss coach and fitness trainer, promoting health and wellness for her clients in a positive and motivating manner. She has over ten years of competitive swimming experience, and is currently competitive as a triathlete and road runner.

Dr. Jenelle N. Gilbert, PhD

Sports Psychologist

Jenelle is an Associate Professor in the Kinesiology Department at CSU, Fresno where she teaches sport psychology at the undergraduate and graduate levels. She has provided sport psychology services to performers of all ages and competitive levels including youth, collegiate, Olympic and Master's athletes in such sports as cycling, track and field, basketball, golf, equestrian, and soccer. She has published several articles in scientific journals and her ongoing lines of research include stress and coping in athletics and performance enhancement intervention. She co-developed the UNIFORM program that teaches mental skills strategies aimed at enhancing academic and sport performance. your convenience)

Gus Gomez, B.S.


Associate Cycling Coach

Gustavo Gomez has been an avid cyclist for many years and is currently a running/multi-sport enthusiast. He has an insatiable thirst for endurance sports and brings this passion and knowledge into his coaching. Gustavo believes in providing his athletes with a balanced program that stresses not only the fundamentals of periodization but also recognizes the importance of basic one-on-one communication with his athletes.

Zoltan Torok, B.S., M.A. (In Progress)

Associate Running Coach, Associate Wellness Coach

Zoltan obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science from Fresno State University, and is currently pursing a graduate degree in Exercise Science. He has 3 years experience as a weight loss coach, working with obese populations, children, diabetics, and athletes. He has 2 years experience training and dieting professional bodybuilders and figure competitors. He competed as a city college tennis player, amateur bodybuilder and has run numerous races, ranging from 5k to 70k. His goal is to bring fitness to the masses, to motivate them, and help them obtain their goals.

Matthew Dearing, B.A.

Associate Cycling Coach

Matthew earned his B.A. in education and a teaching credential from CSU Fresno. He has 20+ years experience with bicycle racing and also holds a state championship jersey in the 40k time trial. Matthew has over 2 decades in the cycling industry, is also a bike fitting specialist, and part owner of Momentum Cycling.

Maia Jost, M.A.

Associate Wellness Coach

Maia has her Master’s degree in Exercise Science and an undergraduate background in Worksite Health Promotion. She works full time as the Fitness Programs Coordinator at the Student Recreation Center on the Fresno State campus and strives to bring effective and innovative programs to the students. Her passion for health and wellbeing carries over to her role at Pinnacle Training Systems where her goal is to make wellness practical and easy to understand for all.

Lisa Janzen Leininger, M.A., Ed.D (In Progress), ACSM

Associate Wellness Coach

Lisa Janzen Leininger is an instructor in the Kinesiology Department at CSU Fresno, where she teaches courses on exercise physiology as well as fitness and wellness. She works as the Program Coordinator for the CSU Fresno employee wellness program. She received her Master’s degree in Exercise Science in 2007 and is currently working on her Doctorate in Education, where her primary research area is physical activity interventions and University wellness programs. She is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Health Fitness Specialist. She is a former volleyball athlete and several years of experience as a volleyball coach.

Lutz Braun, B.A.

Associate Running Coach

Lutz is a former NCAA All-American steeplechaser and graduate from Cal Poly Pomona. He has been running and competing for the past 14 years on the roads, trails and track. Lutz has also found success in multisport events such as duathlon and triathlon in short course and long course distances. He is currently a CAT3 road cyclist.
Tara Kulikov, M.S., M.A. (In Progress) L.Ac., MSTOM

Associate Nutrition Coach

Tara Kulikov is currently a Masters student in Exercise Science within the Department of Kinesiology at CSU, Fresno. She has a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine and is state board certified acupuncturists with an emphasis in sport enhancement and injury prevention. She has experience in coaching at all levels (children to elite triathletes) and is currently working with athletes at the U.S. Olympic training center. She was is a former Division 1 track and field athlete and is a current elite triathlete and runner.
Jerry Spurlock, C.M.T.


Sports Massage Therapist, Associate Running Coach

Jerry is a certified massage therapist specializing in Deep Tissue sports massage. Focused primarily on athletes, Jerry works with many valley runners, cyclists, and triathletes. He established The Massage Works in 2002 and has since worked with athletes from recreational to elite and professional. His goal is to keep his athletes injury free during hard training cycles and help them recover quickly from any injuries that they might sustain. He is also an accomplished runner and triathlete and has competed in distances from the mile to the marathon.

Joel Stetler, B.A., M.A. (In Progress)

Marketing/Web Design, Associate Running Coach

Joel is a running enthusiast with ambitious marathon and triathlon goals ahead of him. In his first year as a runner, he completed three half marathons and one full marathon thanks to the expertise of PTS coaching (especially that of his wife!). Joel works mainly in the background of PTS, but also serves as a coach for beginning marathoners in our fall group marathon & 1/2 program. He has ambitious marathon and triathlon goals for the future and is excited to be a part of the PTS team.
