  • "Surviving the Off-Season: The Importance of Structured Training"
  • "Getting Stronger in the Pool"

What to Expect:

Since the focus of the winter months should be strength and base training, all workouts will focus on these aspects for all disciplines.

SWIM: In-the-pool drills by experienced coaches who know how to work on technique and provide instruction that will get participants stronger and faster and ready for open water swimming.

BIKE: On the bike position will be assessed and corrected if need be to ensure maximum power output. Pedaling technique will be critiqued and pedaling drills aimed at strength training on the bike. These drills will help the rider transfer power around the entire pedal stroke which will translate into overall power output and faster speed with less effort. Participants will learn how to safely descend and corner. How to climb efficiently, when to be in the aero position vs. standing will also be discussed with ample time for practice.

RUN: The run portion will consist of drills that will help strengthen accessory muscles used for running and which will help mobilize the joints leading to a more efficient technique. The run workout will be aimed at building strength over the winter months, hill repeats and tempo pace. A long and short option will be available.

BOOT CAMP: Both bootcamps will consist of muscle strength and muscle endurance exercises that triathletes use in their three disciplines. Core and stability exercises will also be a fundamental aspect of these as well. Participants can expect to learn skills and techniques that they can use at home in their regular training routines.

SEMINARS: The nutrition talk will focus on Healthy Eating throughout the winter months, adjusting caloric intake to meet training demands without putting on those extra pounds. Since all participants will be provided a free body composition assessment, a portion of this seminar will address percent body fat and healthy ways to reduce body fat over the winter. Here is a list of the topics we will be covering:

  • "Nutrition: Adjusting Caloric Intake for the Off-Season"
  • "Surviving the Off-Season: The Importance of Structured Training"
  • "Getting Stronger in the Pool"
